Everyone’s a winner at the Modified Rugby Program Showcase

The GingerCloud Foundation and The Classic Wallabies last Saturday hosted their Modified Rugby Program Showcase and Star Outdoor proudly played a key part in supporting the event with their signage requirements.

The program is a new, modified form of touch-only rugby, developed by GingerCloud Foundation, where each boy and girl with a learning and perceptual disability has their own club PlayerMentor on the field supporting them.

A number of MRP exhibition matches took place on the day with many excited children participating in games.  The highlight of the day was seeing the first ever Classic Wallaroos match against Brothers women in a game of 10s with the Brothers team taking out the win.

Congratulations to the GingerCloud Foundation and The Classic Wallabies on a successful day of celebrating the inclusive power of rugby and continuing to advocate for children with disabilities. Ray White – Elite Agent

Elite Agent Tells How to Build Profile and Longevity in Your Career

3 minutes with Mark Diamond, Ray White Bulimba

Being acknowledged as a true local expert and awarded by his peers and industry as a Ray White Elite Agent, Mark Diamond of Ray White Bulimba, Brisbane, knows a thing or two about building profile.

Having spent a few moments with Mark, we quizzed him about the rewards of having an active brand presence in his local community.

Q1. Building a strong brand reputation for Ray White Bulimba and yourself as an Elite Agent takes nous in marketing and advertising. What are the benefits of ‘in community’ brand presence as part of your strategy?

Building a brand presence in the local community is vital in creating longevity in your real estate career. Buyers and sellers will find it easier to relate to you as a person if they see you involved and supporting local events. It helps to build trust and credibility.

Q2. What sort of organisations and community events would you align your brand with?
Supporting local school fetes is the number 1 event I align myself to. This event attracts the largest community involvement, and is often held on a Sunday, which is the most convenient for our business hours. Several thousand people may attend a fete each year, giving great branding opportunity, while also supporting a good cause.

Q3. What sort of marketing mix works well for delivering a strong ‘in community’ presence?
The best marketing products I have found are branded marquees used at school events and branded rope up banners which can be hung on school fences.  Both provide high visibility and brand exposure.

Mark Diamond has proven himself to be a consummate professional dedicated to exceptional service and results.  We thank Mark for his time and sharing his experience with us.

Get your brand working in your community!

Surf Life Saving Queensland

Surf Life Saving Queensland is the state’s peak beach safety and rescue authority and is one of the largest volunteer-based community service organisations in Australia. SLSQ have accepted Star Outdoor as its preferred Marquee and Outdoor Event Branding provider. We donate a number of sun protection and promotion products for use at SLSQ events throughout the year.

Results:

Star Outdoor has been a proud partner of Surf Life Saving Queensland for nearly four years and, during that time, they have developed into a valued and vital supporter of our organisation. Star Outdoor supplies us with a wide range of products including marquees for our state-wide professional lifeguard service, and signage for our sporting and other beach-related events. Clubs also utilise their equipment across Queensland beaches as part of their weekend patrol services.  Any gear and equipment  we use on the beach must be of the highest-quality to withstand the long-term effects of salt, sand, sun and surf. Star Outdoor not only provide us with quality products but exceptional service as well.”

John Brennan – CEO

Tour de Cure

Star Outdoor has been a proud supporter of Tour de Cure since its inception. We have a personal understanding of how cancer affƒects individuals and families from all walks of life. Our MD, Mark Star, has participated in three Tour de Cures and cycled over 3,500km to help raise over $25,000,000 to help find a cure for cancer. Every year, Star Outdoor donates marquees and banners to help raise awareness and promote the fantastic work of this organisation.

Results:

When Tour de Cure started out in 2007, Star Outdoor took an enormous leap of faith by backing us from the very beginning. Managing Director, Mark Star, came on our first Signature Tour from Brisbane to Sydney and kindly hosted our very first Signature Tour dinner. Since then, Star Outdoor’s high-quality marquees have protected the Tour de Cure family from the elements at our tours and events across Australia. Their feather banners, pop-up banners and fence mesh have helped to promote our brand, strengthen our relationships with our corporate partners, and raise awareness about cancer prevention. Star Outdoor’s colourful pop-up banners for our Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy program take centre stage on our school visits. So far, they’ve helped to raise awareness about cancer prevention to more than 81,000 Australian school children. We cannot thank Star Outdoor enough for their unwavering support and generosity. With partners like Star Outdoor, we will cure cancer.

Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy Program:

“According to scientific research, 1 in 3 cancers are preventable by making simple lifestyle changes. On every tour we ride, we take our cancer awareness and prevention program – Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy – to the local primary schools and communities we visit along the way. Our goal is to take this program to every school-aged child in Australia. We are so grateful to Star Outdoor for their marquees, feather banners and pop-up banners, which help us promote this life-changing program. Together we can cure cancer.”

Amazonia Specialties

Amazonia supplies sustainably-sourced superfood products, best known for its nutrient-rich Acai berry range. The business has seen phenomenal growth in a short timeframe, demonstrating just how well they have been able to build their brand and target a niche market.

Requirements:

Amazonia products are supplied to leading health food stores, independent supermarkets, vitamin shops and cafes all over Australia. To promote the Acai range, Amazonia commissioned Star Outdoor to produce bright purple Acai branded feather banners for each supplier reselling their products.

Solution:

Star Outdoor provides Feather Banners at every location selling Amazonia products. With strong branding reflected in its vivid purple colour, the feather banner acts as an easy indicator for passing traffic and has inevitably contributed to the company’s exponential brand recognition and growth over the past few years.

Amazonia is now among the most recognisable brands on the Australian health food scene, selling more than 40 tonnes of frozen Acai product under its signature purple flag each month. Whilst Feather Banners are their “flagship” outdoor branding solution; other products such as A-Frames, Wall Banners & Café Umbrellas also promote the brand with consistency which has provided a solid foundation to introduce a number of other superfood products to the range with great success.

Results:

“Star outdoor provided high quality flags that has been a key part of our national marketing strategy for our superfood smoothie range. We often get comments like “your product is everywhere” which is a reflection of the prominence of our flags and its strong colour which draws awareness to our brand and our partner cafes.”

Chris Norden – Managing Director

Caring for your Marquee

Like most things, the life of your marquee depends on how well (or badly) it is treated.

Our marquees are specially designed for use in the Australian climate, manufactured with high-quality materials and components so you can be confident they will last for a number of years if they are looked after properly.

Here are a few tips to get more life out of your marquee:

  1. Always secure the frame to the ground, and the canopy to the frame.

securecanopytomarqueeframe1000

This one is not always obvious, as you may think the marquee would not blow over!

Consider the large surface area of the canopy – with a gust of wind it could act as a parachute and lift the marquee off the ground, potentially hurting people or damaging property. Thus, it is your duty of care to secure the marquee at all times.

We recommend using pegs in the feet as well as the guy ropes attached to the canopy, and a weight bag filled with sand on each leg (this is especially important if you are not able to peg it into the ground).

If the canopy is not secured onto the frame it will flap around in the wind, naturally causing more wear & tear. Use the clip straps and follow the instructions carefully to ensure they are positioned correctly. Always remember to release the clips before folding the marquee!

  1. Hose down the frame to remove sand and dirt

Sand can eventually cause the legs to jam if it gets in between the inner and outer legs, and the friction will scratch & wear down the aluminium. It is a good idea to hose down the marquee to wash away these damaging grains.

  1. Never fold up your marquee if it is wet

avoidstoringcanopywet

Remember, these are TEMPORARY structures and are not designed to be left up permanently.

If you have to pack up in wet conditions, make sure you open it up when you get to its storage location to allow it to dry completely before storing for an extended period of time. If stored wet, the fabric inks may run and become blotchy, and the polyester will perish quickly as mould will rot the fibres.

  1. Remove the canopy if the marquee will be stored for an extended period of time

We understand it is not always practical to remove the canopy each time you pack away the marquee, but be aware of the legs ‘pinching’ the fabric which can cause it to tear. If it is not going to be used for an extended period, we recommend storing the frame and canopy separately for optimal protection.

  1. Make sure the frame is the right way up in the carry bag

The feet of the marquee should always be placed in the base of the bag where the wheels are located. If it sits the other way, the friction generated by the wheels against the canopy may cause it to tear.

___________________________________________________________________________

If you follow these simple steps, you may well find yourself as one of our customers who return after 5-8 years to refresh the canopy while the frame remains intact, which is testament to the durability of our product and a sign of your good care!

Don’t forget – we supply a full range of spare parts for the marquees which are easy to replace yourself in the event of minor damages or lost components. Download the Spare Parts Order Form here.
